Tree service

An arborist can determine the types of pruning necessary to maintain or improve the health, appearance, and safety of trees. Some examples of these techniques include:

  • Pruning out branches that rub each other to the point of damaging cambium
  • Removing or pruning back limbs that interfere with wires, building facades, gutters, roofs, chimneys, or windows, or that violate street and sidewalk codes
  • Removing dead or weak limbs that pose a hazard to pedestrian and/or vehicular traffic or property
  • Removing diseased or insect-infested limbs
  • Structural pruning of mature trees to reduce the potential for storm damage
  • Pruning young trees for strong long-term structure
  • Cleaning up storm damage in trees
  • Removing branches, or thinning, to increase light penetration
  • Crown reduction of aging trees, if needed, to prolong their lives and reduce hazard
  • Pruning fruit trees to maximize fruit production

Hedge pruning service

Hedges are often maintained by tree companies, especially when accessing the work requires tall ladders or the amount of material generated requires a chipper. We offer:

  • Annual maintenance, which usually removes one or two years of growth
  • Hedge renovation, which removes much more material and/or changes the size and shape of a hedge

Tree removal service

Although we prefer tree preservation to removal, there are often situations where removal is really the only feasible option. We have a Certified Tree Risk Assessor on staff to help determine the appropriate course of action. Removal is often recommended when the tree:

  • Is dead or dying
  • Is considered irreparably hazardous
  • Is causing an obstruction which is impossible to correct through pruning
  • Is crowding and causing harm to other trees
  • Is to be replaced by a more suitable specimen
  • Is located in an area where new construction requires removal

Tree cabling

In a forest environment it doesn’t matter if a tree loses a large limb, but in a more urban setting limb failure can cause injury or damage to property. When a tree has a branch or stem that is poorly attached and structural stability cannot be improved with pruning, sometimes installing a cable system is a good option. We offer two types of cabling systems, depending on the situation at hand:

  • Dynamic cabling, which is non-invasive, allows the tree to move naturally – but not to the point of branch/stem failure
  • Static cabling, which requires drilling and hardware installation, holds the tree part in question rigid to arrest the progress of active failure

Tree bracing

Bracing is the installation of a steel rod through a poor branch attachment to prevent or repair a split. When installing a brace, industry best practices require also installing a cable system. Cabling, on the other hand, does not always require bracing.

Emergency Tree Care

Storms may cause limbs or entire trees to fall, often landing on other trees, homes, and structures, or cars. The weight of storm-damaged trees is great, and they can be dangerous to remove or trim. An arborist can assist in performing the job in a safe manner while reducing further risk of damage to property.
